Hallmarks

Hallmarking is your guarantee of quality. Each of our designs carries Susan Plowman's origination makers punch mark. This being SP, her initials within a heart. All pieces of jewellery that are required to have a hallmark are independently marked for fineness and are assayed at the Edinburgh Assay Office, and this includes all gold items over 1g and silver weighing over 7.8g. For further information about hallmarks and what they mean, see the section 11 dealers notice on hallmarks on this link.

Commissions and Remodels

Susan Plowman designs individual pieces for special clients.

If you have inherited pieces of jewellery passed down through your family that you would like to include in the finished piece, we are happy to do this for you.

Bespoke pieces can be made in gold or platinum and prices start from £2500.

Although we do not do bespoke work in silver, we may be able to modify existing silver pieces from our ranges to include any sentimental stones or charms that you would like added. We also offer a personalised engraving service.

Susan will be happy to make an appointment with you to discuss the design and asses your existing inherited pieces of jewellery or show you a wide and varied selection of ethically sourced gemstones in her design studio.

If you are posting your inherited pieces of jewellery to Susan to assess, please be aware that there is a time charge for this service and if you do not decide to proceed with the commission your jewellery will be returned to you using Royal Mail Special Delivery at your cost.

If you would like to proceed with a commission there is an initial design deposit of £200 to cover the time spent drawing, designing and/or using computer aided design that is non-refundable if you decide not to proceed. A wax model can be produced if it is a CAD design for you to see and try on. You will be given an exact quote once the design has been finalised and a deposit payment of one third will be taken at this point. The design process takes approximately 4-8 weeks from start to finish.
